Chase Presents 2013 Awards Gala! Join us in Welcoming Michael Jordan

This September at Oregon Opportunity Network’s annual Awards Gala, please join JPMorgan Chase and Oregon Opportunity Network in welcoming Michael Jordan, Oregon’s first Chief Operating Officer! [Photo: AP file photo]

Monday, September 23 (5:30 – 9pm).
Red Lion on the River, 909 N Hayden Island Drive, Portland, OR.
Member tickets are $95; nonmember $100; Tables of ten are $850.

One of the things that is interesting about Mr. Jordan is that he worked with the Governor to create the COO position. Before the position was created, he says, there were “confused lines of authority. . . there’s no one who reports directly to the governor who has the over-arching management authority of state government.” As the COO, he not only supervises day-to-day operations of state departments, boards and commissions, but is the point person on the governor’s budget. To read more in the Oregonian, click here.

The reason Oregon ON asked the Governor’s office to attend and speak at the Gala, is that Oregon is in a time of transition. The Governor has established a compelling 10 year plan that includes five priorities that will lead to a more prosperous, educated and healthy Oregon. To create better alignment with his priorities, Governor Kitzhaber has ordered a careful analysis and possible dissolution Oregon’s Housing and Community Services agency. We look forward to hearing the Governor’s vision for Oregon and the role that housing and services play within that vision.
